Article 370 revoked !

5th August 2019 came as a revolutionary day in history of independent India as the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Nareindra Modi scrapped the 65 years old article 370 35A which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Introduced in 1954, article 370 along with article 35A defined that the Jammu and Kashmir state’s residents live under a seperate set of laws including those related to citizenship, ownership of property and fundamental rights as compared to the people of other Indian states. It was a long time since BJP government has kept in its manifesto to remove article 370 35A and on Monday, finally the union home minister, Mr. Amit Shah moved the rajya sabha and the led the government to introduce the Jammu and Kashmir reorganisation bill. The bill states that there will be no seperate constitution for Jammu and Kashmir, Indians will be free to buy land or property in the state, there will be no seperate flag and the one which is there will be at par with the Indian tricolour. Moreover, the minorites will be eligible for the reservations and there will be single citizenship. There will be two union territories namely Jammu and Kashmir with its own legislature and the other one Ladakh without its legislature. The whole country is rejoicing this moment with our dear neighbor Pakistan outraged at the government’s decision. Security forces are still deployed in the state as there are chances of disorder after the bifurcation. We all hope to see peace and prosperity in Kashmir once again.
